It may be something that traumatized us or maybe something we lost. We can get so caught up within our own personal lives that we can’t see that it is our past that is strangling the life out of us. It may be the very thing holding us back from the joy in our lives.

Sometimes the thing that holds us back the most, is an event that happened in our past. It may be something that traumatized us or maybe something we lost. We can get so caught up within our own personal lives that we can’t see that it is our past that is strangling the life out of us. It may be the very thing holding us back from the joy in our lives. But our past has no power over the present moments, except for the power we give it. It is understandable, when we are tired and at our weakest, this is when we are attacked by the past ideas and thoughts that we conquered long ago. Every person has a bad day or even week.
Sometimes we all simply need a gentle reminder that the past is in the past. Don’t waste your time looking back on what hurt you or what you’ve lost. We must not let our past affect the here and now. Although there are those who believe we should never look back, others believe that our past experiences can be great fuel for our desired futures. I believe this. It is our past that we learn from and we should take everything we can from it. We can use our past failures and hurts to motivate us for today. However, if it doesn’t serve us well, then we should acknowledge that and move on. Life is meant to move forward, not to be traveled backwards. Our past may explain how we got here, but our futures are up to us. Live life to the fullest. Live your life at full throttle.
