Being a God! Part 2, is my topic on this week’s “Bleeding Heart Chronicles”. Good morning, love. As we had discussed in part 1, being a God is about being expected to be perfect or being put on a pedestal. Or it can be called Perfectionism. Whatever you decide to call it, it is a trait that makes life an endless checklist on accomplishments. It is a fast track to unhappiness, that is often accompanied by depression. [gap size=”8px”] Sometime ago I had attended a church with a friend. I watched as this preacher got up to the podium and began teaching his members that others were watching their lives and how they were examples. How they had to be careful in how they did things and activities, that could cause others to become confused about what they stood for. Just when I thought it couldn’t get worse or put more pressure on the members, he said something completely insane. He said he was striving for perfection. And suggested his followers should do the same. This was years ago. And yet I look around today, and that is mostly what I see. People pretending to be perfect and have the perfect lives and expecting others to be perfect also. Is it a surprise that statistics says more young people are depressed today. Is it a surprise that more people think about suicide. Or overweight, nervous, anxiety and other health problems. [gap size=”8px”] We are imperfect beings. Trying to be perfect is crazy. It is a goal you’ll never achieve. It is a goal that will leave you constantly disappointed in yourself or others time after time. The desire to be perfect burdens many people today. Don’t misunderstand me. Seeking perfection at a particular task or job might be achievable depending on what it is. A student can strive to attain a perfect grade. But, the goal of being perfect in life is a different story. The very definition of human is to be imperfect. When someone messes up and is called out for it, what is a usual response. “I’m only human”. You may agree with me, but look around. Look at people of today. They rush to judgment immediately. No proof needed. If you are accused, then you must be guilty. And then they degrade you. Why. There are people who expect others to fit into their model of what they think that person should be. And when they don’t, they lose their mind. They demand perfection according to their view of it. Funny thing is, they do not want to be judged by that same standard. They would fail and they know it. [gap size=”8px”] People who are so demanding of others have problems of their own. Usually, they demand perfection from others to compensate for a sense of inadequacy of themselves. These people usually have an exaggerated sense of their own shortcomings. They are toxic people to be around. When you put all these things together, you can see why I amusingly call it the God complex. They put unrealistic goals on others and while you’re distracted, you can’t see their flaws. They have everyone’s life mapped out on how it should be, except their own. But they are hiding all their many shortcomings and have you focused on your own so they appear perfect. They want control of everything else because they get to forget how chaotic their life really is. They set themselves up as if they are a God. While yelling “Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain”. [gap size=”8px”] I’ve said this before. When you can let go of all your fear, you’ll have a much better life. Stop fearing failure, it doesn’t matter. Failing is how you learn. Stop fearing being able to please everyone. That will never happen. People are fickle. They can change with the wind. Except you are not perfect and no one else is either. Don’t put unrealistic expectations on yourself or others. Don’t worry about fitting in. Do you really need to prove yourself to anyone. The only person that matters, is you. Find your happiness and everything else will appear to fall into place. You’ll realize you’re not perfect and that it doesn’t matter. You’ll see no one is perfect and it still doesn’t matter. You’ll still wear a smile on your face. Who knows, You might could even say, you’re happy as if you were a God!! [gap size=”8px”] We live in a world of high expectations and very confused individuals. No one has the right to judge your life. NO ONE! Looking for perfection leads to a life of forever discontent. Setting aside the expectations of perfection will allow you to like someone for who they truly are. There is a beauty in imperfection. One that I’ve come to appreciate. One that you could appreciate also. Show me the broken and flawed, and I’ll show you the beauty I see. We should accept each other as we are. Strive to be better and help those that fall. We are in this fight together. That’s why I always stand with you. I gladly bleed with you. We will pursue a brighter day in our life. We will overcome The God complex that impedes our happiness. We may Not be God’s, but we can be Lord’s of our own destiny and happiness. Because Together we are unstoppable, my love! WE will overcome Being a God! Always and forever![image src=”http://bleedingheartchronicles.lordfreakzilla.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/hr-Bleeding-heart3.png” alt=”HeartHR”]
